During London Design Festival 2018, Smeg revealed their latest collaboration with the global brand, Disney. A celebration of Smeg’s 70th and Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary, a limited-edition range of fridges have been created.
To mark 9 decades since the first debut of Mickey Mouse, Smeg’s iconic FAB28 fridge has been brought to life by an original drawing of Disney’s most iconic character. This collaboration is limited-edition and a true original, as Smeg have only produced 90 fridges. One for each year since Mickey Mouse’s first debut in 1928.
This collaboration was born from the celebration of two creative brands which at the core strive in bringing family together. For Smeg, at the heart of the company lies a focus on food, family and entertaining. Meanwhile for Disney, at its core lies the ability to bring people of all ages together, united in a sense of fun, laughter, optimism and hope.
Aesthetically speaking, the FAB28 is Smeg’s most widely recognised design. Immediately identified thanks to its softcurves and 50’s inspired design, it paved the way to a refrigerator revolution in the late 1990s. Since then, it has become a global phenomenon. The interior benefits from adjustable glass shelves, chrome shelving supports, metal wine racks, LED strip lights, an ice compartment and a Life Plus drawer, which keeps fruit and vegetables fresher for longer. Each FAB28 provides a total gross capacity of 281L and offers an A+++ energy rating. In addition, Smeg recently upgraded all of its FAB fridges to include a metal back.
The 90 limited edition Mickey Mouse FAB28 fridges are available exclusively from Smeg’s flagship store at 14 Regent Street St James’s and has been decorated with a limited-edition silver plaque signifying its unique number.
